The Male room is all about offering hope when you have little left of your own. We are here to help you make changes and to sort out the challenges and issues you maybe facing.
Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we planned. Relationships come unstuck; past abuse inflicted on us eats away at our self esteem, we fall foul of the law; unemployment drags us down, accident or illness take their toll, addictions take over and sometimes we feel beaten and kicked all at the same time.
At the Male Room, we are against all violence towards men, women, and children. We work with families, and as such regardless of gender, race, orientation or creed, we will do our utmost to deliver the best possible service for the situation and individual and family.

Are you faced with separation?
Separation and divorce can be one of the most difficult times in someone’s life, possibly losing those closest to you through the difficult process can be a extremely harrowing and depressing experience. Working through the feelings of hopelessness, depression, and a multitude of other emotions can be a lifelong exercise, and at the Male Room we understand this, which is why if you find yourself out of a relationship with nowhere to turn we can help by:
- Working one on one with support and coaching to ease the negative times in the process;
- Offering a practical and empathetic listening ear for you to talk in a non-judgemental setting;
- Legal advice in regards to the difficult legal issues that can happen throughout separation; and
- Up to six free counselling sessions to help you through the emotions that separation and divorce can bring up.
Police Safety Orders
Police safety orders are immediate effective orders that remove one party from the home in the event that a police officer believes it is in the best interest in regards to stopping a domestic incident. If you have been served with one of these orders it can be a confusing time, and the Male Room can help you out with a place to stay for the length of the order to get you back on your feet plus a gift bag of food and toiletries – free of charge – as well as offering support, both legally and in practical sense, to help you through the process, counselling is also available if required.
We also work with victims; the person who is to remain in the home. We offer the same legal and practical support, relationship counselling, and any other services deemed necessary.
If you are in a relationship and are being or have been physically, emotionally, or financially abused, it is not your fault, and we understand that it is difficult to come forward and say you are a victim. At the Male Room, we work closely with agencies involved in the domestic violence area and together we can offer a confidential, specially tailored service to help with the feelings that can surface.
The Male Room is also available as a networking and advocacy service, and can assist with finding the right service at the right time for you and your situation. Our on site community services coordinator is accessible and ready to help navigate any issues you may have in finding your way.
